We think the Samsung NS310 is going to be one of the best netbooks you can buy this year. Here are the things that we really think set it apart:
12 hours is amazing for any laptop, let alone a tiny little netbook with a very bright (300 nit) screen. The battery life makes the NS310 a real standout and perfect for when you’re on the move.
The NS310 screen is super bright, and the matte screen makes it great for travelling around with. Whether you want to watch films on the train or surf youtube in the park there will be no nasty glares.
OK, let’s be honest – we shouldn’t really factor looks in, but we all do. This netbook looks great, with its curved design, glossy lid, backlit keyboard and oversize Samsung logo.
This netbook is now in the performance territory of traditional desktop PCs. You don’t have to wait around for too long after you’ve hit the start-up button – it’s ready to go in around 25 seconds.
Backlit, with a touchpad and button bar, an 80 key board, and metal chassis points to rest your hands on as you work mean this keyboard looks cool, feels robust, and isn’t cramped to navigate like some netbooks.
The power of this little netbook puts it in contention with some of the traditional desktops you’ll have owned a few years back. It can store plenty of data on its huge 250 GB hard drive.
The NS310 wireless connection is really fast. By the time you’ve switched it on and opened your browser it’s logged on to your network and ready to go.
There’s nothing more annoying than not having enough USB ports, or having them poorly placed. The NS310 has no less than 3, and a VGA out port for plugging into an external monitor, something many netbooks are missing.
This Samsung netbook is quiet! It makes virtually no sound. There’s nothing more annoying than a loud computer, something which Samsung seem to have born in mind when putting the NS310 together.
For the performance you’re getting, the predicted price of around the £300 is fantastic.
