Google Plus growth Vs other Social Networks

After these three first weeks google plus growth might be catalogued as “out of the charts”. According to Larry Page, Google company cofounder, there are already 10 million people in Google plus social network! This number was revealed in Google’s quarterly accionists meeting, held yesterday, where Larry Page gave a very interesting opening speech.

On Google+, Technowizard Leon Haland has shared an interesting graph which shows the growth of Google, Facebook and Twitter. Twitter got 10 million users in 780 days (2.13 years), Facebook got 10 million users in 852 days (2.33 years) where as Google Plus gained 10 million users just in 16 days (2 weeks). Google Plus is growing exponentially and becoming popular among users.

The Google Plus growth apparently even overwhelmed engineers and system administrators at Google: last week their Google+ email servers where left with no space in their harddrive to actualize their information. This incident was responsible for thousands of baffled Google Plus users to receive the same emails over and over again (up to ten or twenty times each).
Google+ servers were unable to actualize the “mail sent” signal so they kept resending those emails until the system administrators at google could add more storage space.
Can we compare Google Plus growth with other social networks?
It took facebook about 7 years to reach their current 750 millon users. Twitter, on the other side, actually has about 200 million users, after about three years of life on the internet. We assume that extrapolating 10 million users in three weeks would require an estadist expert, but nonetheless we might excercise some calculations of our own… so here comes our own prediction about Google Plus growth future:
We assume that it will take only a year for Google Plus growth to reach the actual twitter users number. Going a bit further we may propose that it will take not more than 5 years for Google Plus to surpass facebook’s users count.
The only key ingredient for this to happen would be that google will need to keep listening and improving their social network. This is something that twitter and Facebook forgot how to do, as they essentially are the same thing since their inception. Right now we can witness some feeble suprises on “new” features to emerge from facebook, but -just as their chat system- they are not competition to Google+ Hangout multivideo chat features at this time. Google Plus growth is unstoppable !
