Samsung NS310 Video review specifications

The Samsung NS310 is an updated and redesigned version of the old Samsung N310 netbook. The technology that powers it is a little bit cleverer and the new look is great, with a smooth, curvy design to bring Samsung netbooks into 2011. The key elements of the Samsung NS310 specification are as follows:
  • 10.1 inch screen
  • 1366 x 768 pixel matte LCD display
  • A 1.5 GHZ Intel Atom N550 dual core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 250GB Hard Drive
  • Long lasting 12 hour battery
  • 3 USB 2.0 ports
  • 1 headphone socket
  • 1 integrated mic socket
  • 1 VGA port (for a screen)
  • 1 RJ45 LAN port
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home
  • Weight – 2.9 lbs

It’s going to be available in blue and silver initially, and has a great looking curvature to the case that is also very ergonomic. The lid is glossy, like most Samsung laptops nowadays. It keeps its predecessor’s oversize Samsung logo, and it features a backlit keyboard, both of which add to the über-cool looks.

The NS310 has the standard Samsung matte screen which is perfect if you’re using it outdoors or in brightly lit areas, as it doesn’t reflect light. The screen brightness is well above the norm at a huge 300 nits – most netbooks only come with a 200 nit screen, so this is a massive plus point with over 50% more brightness than most netbooks.
The powerful processor means that it’s great for viewing films when you’re on the move, and the light weight and long battery life compound this. It’s not designed for things like heavy gaming or serious data crunching, but the Samsung NS310 is ideal for basic stuff like using Microsoft word, surfing the web, watching video content, listening to i-tunes and other every-day tasks.
This little netbook is going to a real leader in the netbook market this year. If you want the best netbook for your money, with a great screen, long battery life, and great looks to boot then the Samsung NS310 is the netbook for you. The exact pricing and release dates are yet to be announced, but as soon as they are we’ll be sure to let you know! Just so you have an idea though, we’re expecting it in the first half of 2011, and it should be priced between £300 and £350.
