MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI CONSTRUCTING A PRACTICE PITCH AT HOME

The devoted Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wants to remain at the top of his game even when he is on vacation. According to reports, he has been supervising the construction of a practice pitch at his farmhouse in Simalia, India.
Dhoni is currently taking rest after nearly 17 weeks of continuous cricket. He has pulled out of Team India’s tour to the Caribbean in order to attend his long-abandoned social life.
In his absence, the prolific Indian all-rounder, Suresh Raina, will lead the team in the bilateral series against West Indies.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, aptly known as, ‘Midas Singh Dhoni’, truly has the touch of Gold. After leading his side to the World Twenty20 Cup in 2007, he became only the second Captain after Kapil Dev, to bring theICC Cricket World Cup home, in 2011.
In his Domestic stint, he has successfully led his Indian Premier League franchise, Chennai Super Kings, to two consecutive title wins.
His track record as a Captain is truly impressive, however, his performance as a batsman has been mediocre recently. He went without a ton in the World Cup 2011 and the recent IPL season, invoking stern criticism from several quarters.
In order to continue working on his batting, the Indian skipper has resorted to having a pitch at home.
However, the construction will take several days and according to a family member, Dhoni will be leaving for Mumbai soon, for his commercial commitments.
Following India’s World Cup glory, Dhoni emerged as a marketing goldmine. Nearly 20 top brands of India signed him up as their brand ambassador and model.
Returning to his home town on Wednesday, after a long interval, Dhoni and his wife received a very warm welcome from the natives who felt honored by the presence of India’s most successful sportsman.
Making his International debut in 2004, Dhoni has reached the top by leaps and bounds. He is already being considered by many as possibly the best Indian Captain ever.
